FAQ

Q. Is The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation a Non-Profit organization?

A. Yes! Simply put, all of our donations go back into the foundation used to purchase necessary equipment for The Princess Margaret Hospital. Our members DO NOT receive a salary.

Q. Is The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation affiliated with the Bahamian Government?

A. No! Our Foundation is completely autonomous and we operate free of political, cultural, gender or financial bias.

Q. Will your foundation consider funding other initiatives outside of PMH?

A. There are plans to expand our donation capacity to include Sandilands and the public hospitals on family islands but outside of that we do not provide funding for any individual persons or organizations.

Q. how can we be sure that our money is being used for what we want?

A. Since our inception in 2003, our finances have been audited by one of the country’s leading audit firms on an annual basis without fail and beyond reproach. It’s a 20-year legacy that we’re extremely proud of and we invite anyone to visit the Princess Margaret Hospital and see where the funds have been used. From state-of-the-art radiological equipment to hospital beds and gurneys, dialysis machines and air conditioning units; we take the responsibility bestowed upon us very seriously. All of our members are incredibly successful individuals and bring their combined wealth of experience to ensure that integrity is maintained at all levels of the organization.

Q. How can we help?

A. Contact us to discuss ways that you can contribute. If you or a family member received care at The Princess Margaret Hospital at some point, then give back to others that may not be in the financial position to pay for their treatment but need care and access to life saving medical services.

Q. What’s the difference between the Princess Margaret hospital (PMH) foundation and the public hospital authority (PHA) foundation?

A. The PHA Foundation was established in 2022 and is a branch of The Public Hospital Authority, a government entity which falls under the Ministry of Health and Wellness. It was formed through incredible effort to solicit donations from Bahamians who live abroad, foreigners domiciled in their respective homelands and international hospitals willing to donate funds and medical equipment. To facilitate that, they offer tax exemptions via a 501c3status.

The PMH Foundation solicits donations from Bahamians and foreigners domiciled in The Bahamas. We are a private entity that is not affiliated with the government of The Bahamas but we coordinate our funding efforts with the PHA Foundation by having one of our members serve on their board so that we work in tandem for the benefit of the hospital.
